Common questions

Which calculator do I use to decide my gold lot size?

Use the position size calculator. Give it your account balance, the percentage you are willing to risk and your stop distance in pips, and it returns the lot size for XAU/USD, where one standard lot is 100 oz. It answers how big, not whether the trade is good.

How is pip value different for gold than for forex pairs?

For XAU/USD one pip is 0.01, and one standard lot is 100 oz, so a single pip is a fixed dollar amount per lot rather than the small fraction you see on EUR/USD. The pip value calculator shows that amount for your lot size, which is the number you need before setting a stop.

What does the margin calculator tell me that leverage does not?

The margin calculator converts a position into the cash your broker sets aside to hold it. Leverage is only the cap that feeds that sum: at up to 1:500 on standard forex accounts, within DFSA/SCA-compliant limits, a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin. Your actual requirement depends on the instrument and the entity holding the account.

Does the profit calculator include spread, commission and swap?

It calculates gross profit from price movement, entry, exit and lot size, so it does not build in your broker's costs. Spread, commission and any swap depend on your account and the time you hold the position, and you should subtract them yourself. Use it to compare scenarios, not to predict a net result.

Where do pivot points fit into a gold trading plan?

The pivot points tool gives reference levels from the prior session's high, low and close, which many gold traders use to frame entries, stops and targets. They are levels to watch, not signals, and they carry no guarantee. Pair them with the position size and pip value calculators so a level becomes a sized trade.
